Two
college professors, Maggie Ball, an artist and art historian, and
Larry Fask, a sociologist, fell in love with each other late in life
but not too late to make their lives a Great Adventure. Maggie’s
academic sabbatical in 2001 took them to India for a study of Hindu
and Buddhist art and for the wildest, most amazing endeavor of their
lives. Covering the width & breadth of the sub-continent, they
created a photographic journal of friendships made and lessons learned.
Their continued interest in exploring India grows out of their common
interest in South Asian and Himalayan art and religion, cultural diversity
and social outreach. This passion became Spirit
India Boutique & Gallery, beautiful things
for home, body and soul. |
There
is an indescribable and compelling force that seems to call us back.
Despite the arduous nature of travel in India, the effort has always
paid off in so many ways. One cannot experience that place without
being personally challenged and spiritually changed. The din of a
billion human beings moving rhythmically with cows,
bulls, camels and carts envelops and hypnotizes, pulling us along
for the noisy, crazy, thrilling ride. Our photographs reflect the
faces and movements of daily life in rural towns and villages where
water buffalo sales and wedding processions dot the landscape with
nearly psychedelic color. Our products; clothes, jewelry, art, gifts
and artifacts are offerings that come to you from our hearts with
the hope that you will enjoy the vicarious adventure and appreciate
the opportunity to shop in a conscientious way. Maggie
